Board Development and Strategic Fundraising
The integration of fundraising and other development activities into the overall strategy of a nonprofit is critical to its ongoing success. A coordinated development plan, coupled with a board assessment gives an organization a competitive edge. It enables the board to promulgate a structured development process which – if enacted swiftly and with full commitment – can define the growth of the organization and the cultivation of targeted new board members, while also providing a long-range strategy.
For over 20 years Leslie Lannon has proactively guided nonprofit organizations through a realistic assessment of their development potential to the successful implementation of a coordinated fundraising plan to reach their strategic goals. This capability is complemented by her experience as a grant maker and marketing professional. Working with organizational leadership and staff, she guides the organization to an integrated strategic plan that activates the board and stakeholders in the organization’s fundraising efforts.
In the event that the organization is without a development professional, Leslie is available to serve as an interim head of development or as an outside resource as necessary to create and implement the strategic plan and set the stage for successful future fundraising.
The determination of the potential of a fundraising event often poses great difficulty for organizations venturing into this arena. Leslie’s expertise will help the organization develop realistic expectations of the type and size of an initial event and gauge the event’s potential for growth in recurring time frames. Leslie handles logistics, guiding the in-house staff through the event planning process -- including helping the organization to fully utilize existing staff and resources, maximize in-kind donation potential, and identify talent which will generate attendance, sponsorship and other resources.
Additionally, Ms. Lannon guides new and nascent nonprofits in the development of a 501 (c) 3 application, the initial audit process, and the creation and implementation of initial fundraising and cultivation events.
