Liz Lusskin - Organizational Development and Executive Support
Many organizations, either before or after a leadership search, would benefit from undertaking a guided, objective assessment and repositioning of their internal operations. Once that process is completed, the organization is better able to thrive under its existing leadership, or has gained greater clarity on just what its new leadership needs to provide.
Elizabeth ("Liz") Lusskin is a consultant who advises non-profit clients on organizational management and strategic planning. She has over 20 years of experience turning around failing organizations, or starting new, successful ones. Liz has developed a facilitated approach, whereby board, executives and staff work together with the guidance of a skilled, objective outsider, to create a road map of strategic options to better position the organization for a strong future. The goal is to face problems, recognize strengths, and maximize internal resources. Once an organization uses its own assets to the fullest, it can be far more effective at attracting outside resources. At the end of the day, that means greater effectiveness in fulfilling an organization’s core mission.
Ultimately, for organizational development to be successful, Liz believes that the strategic review should yield options which to the greatest extent possible can be undertaken using existing internal resources. The other goal of this process is to build stronger relations between the board and staff, to identify untapped potential within the directors and staff, and to generally strengthen the ties that bind both to the organization itself.
In other situations, the senior executive of an organization requires individual guidance, especially in turn-around situations. Liz has helped heads of organizations both large and small to become more effective at managing their staff, internal processes and board relationships.
